I wonder if I am related?  So weird to see my name in such a context.  I am not a Jr. however, my father's name is John F. Madeja.

Wow - it's late.  Can't sleep.  Enjoying some Artful Dodger.  Wow - what an incredible album - to bad it is out of print.  Wow - out of the thousands of CDs I own, this is truly my favorite.  My precious.....I do enjoy my old vinyl copy.  I lost the bid for the CD on eBay last week when I was not paying attention - it sold for $36.

Anyway - I was watching The Tube tonight.  With my HD channels I actually get an all music channel - The Tube - it shows videos all the time.  No commercials - wow!  Anyway - trivia - what two videos has Courtney Cox starred in.  They played them both within 20 minutes - hence the question.

To the winner - I will burn a CD of any live show I own - we can discuss particulars.

Oh - for U2 fans - those that call yourselves fans - I highly encourage you to track down the One CD single.  I forgot how beautiful their version of Lou Reed's Satellite of Love truly is.  Wow - incredible - amazing that this song came out of the Achtung Baby sessions.  Amazing!  Okay - to the winner of the trivia question - I will burn the disc for you - odds are it is out of print, Amazon has used copies from $7.49.  If you call yourself a U2 fan - you need this one in your collection.

Peace.

The Black Crowes - Freak N Roll into the Fog

Wow - it has been a few months since I last posted.  It is the 4th and I am enjoying a day of catching up with life.  Summer project is here and life has been crazy as usual.  Amazing how busy I have found myself over the past few weeks, summer project, coaching OPDs, coaching interns, and other random stuff.

Recently, Kristin and I were debating whether to buy a TV or build a deck.  We ended up with the TV.  The HD cable box arrives on Thursday - sweet!  I can see the all star game in HD.  Some may ask did I have to twist Kristin's arm and the answer is actually no. She is a big movie buff, so it as an easy sale.

I have been suffering from migraines again, not fun, I have one now as I type this.  Oh well, it will get better soon.

Project has been a blast - we have really sharp students this year and the guys are a blast to hang out with. We went go-carting last week - that was as we raced around and crashed into each other. Kristin almost took out the track attendant as he was helping another racer!  It was pretty funny.

Not much else is going on, looking forward to the cookout tonight and fireworks if the rain holds off.

A final thought - I have been looking at my 'footprints' to see who has stopped by.  Kudos to you if you have stopped by or are looking for something interesting, or if you are waiting, like me, to see a post here.  However, I am puzzled, someone from Arkansas(???) keeps dropping by, I invite you to leave a comment - or if this just freaked you out, sorry.  You piqued my curiousity.

Anyway - another thought - Pirates comes out on Friday - gotta see that.  Peace.

I really enjoy music - the listening experience, sitting in a room with your stereo filling the room.  A number of years ago I put together a great stereo system, Bose speakers, a Yamaha receiver, a Technics turntable and a Sony CD player, yes I even have a Sony dual Cassette player.  For me when I purchase a new album, I enjoy sitting down and relaxing and taking it in as an experience - the music, the lyrics and the artwork.  I can never do an iPod and I find listening to music on a computer very dissatisfying.  I still live for the experience.  MP3s suck - why not experience the full range the artist intended - anyway that is a post for another day...

Well one of my favorite bands released their eight studio album this week.  In the past, they would release the vinyl edition 2 weeks prior to the CD release.  That was always a treat, coming home and laying the big black piece of wax down and giving it a spin.  I love how the needle fills the grooves on fresh vinyl - especially 180 gram.  Feels like you are in the room with the band.

Well, with their new record label, there has not been a vinyl release.  I did get my CD in the mail and thought while Kristin was out I would take it for a spin in the listening room.  Well, I put it in my CD player and well - it ate it!  Yes, it made a number of funny sounds and gulp, it would not open.  Trapped inside was my new Pearl Jam CD.  CRAP!

I went an got the tools and after 30 minutes of taking it apart and putting it back together I was able to enjoy my CD from beginning to end.  I think I may need a new CD player, but I found it laughable.  I am getting old, I am not impressed with iPods, or MP3s, give me an old fashion turntable and a stack of wax and I will be a very content man.  My dream is to be John Cusak in High Fidelity!

On another note, PJ is living up to the hype - they are back!  They will be on Letterman this Thursday evening.  At 5:45 on Thursday you can watch a web cast as they do a free show in the Sullivan Theater.  You can find it here - www.cbs.com/lateshow

Oh - Kristin has been posting more photos of our trip here - www.xanga.com/austria2006

Dogtown and Z-Boys (Deluxe Edition)
By Sean Penn

Last night, I once again watched the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys, the story of the Zephyr skateboard team.  I would recommend it as a rental if you have not seen it, yes it is a documentary, but it is incredible.  The still photos and the film footage from the '70s is amazing.  Kristin, yes the photo journalism major, is blown away by the stills.  You may not be a skateboard enthusiast, but it is pretty sweet and I highly recommend it.

Oh, we are home from Austria, wow!
